Hunting this year has been fun so far. While we were camped up in the Mtns Brian got his Elk, and we had some really fun times:) Brian has yet to get his deer and I still need to get my Elk and my deer.

This is a small water hole that Brian and I sat at for 5 LONG hours, with no luck! You cant really see the actual water cuz the logs are infront of it, but its there I promise! We saw lots of Elk and Deer tracks in there so we were pretty certain that we would see something, but no luck that day!:)

This is up at the Hoback Mtns. We were up there deer hunting with a bunch of our friends.... some of the other hunters were down walking through the trees.... Brian and I are on the top of the hill waiting for them to push some deer out of the trees.

Another pic of the Hobacks. We rode in on 4 wheelers that day. There were about 5 machines total and most of us were riding double. Well on the way back Brian and I were crossing a rather deep river and hit a HUGE pithole right in the middle and rolled the 4 wheeler over. I was caught by both legs and most of the way under the water. Brian managed to get out from under the machine and push it off of me. We managed to get EVERYTHING including ourselves and my cousin Spencer's rifle soaked! Then after that was all said and done and we got the machine out of the river we came across another STEEP hill with pitholes everywhere in it. I bailed off the 4 wheeler fearing another rollover and hiked up the rather steep hill. Brian made it up the hill fine but there were a couple close calls. The guys all got off their machines and literally pulled the others up as they came. It was lots of fun!:)

During the 5 hour stake out at the watering hole Brian found a broken off piece of Elk antler. That must have been one painful break! just that one piece of antler was quite heavy... you would be amazed at how heavy a full rack is!

I was VERY bored and impatient during this LONG LONG wait for an animal so I dug out my camera and started taking pics of whatever I could. This is my feet!!

Another pic of my feet!! haha... no wonder the animals didnt come in... they could probably hear me fiddling around with my camera!:) haha!

Brian slept most of the time we were in that spot! haha... this is him crashed out on his back pack!:) he is SO cute!:) When I looked over the first time and saw him sleeping I was SHOCKED! I thought for sure he would be wide awake and bushy tailed waiting for an animal... guess I was wrong!:)

Dad and Joshers were up there for a few days with us. This is Daddy and Brian sleeping and Josh trying to duck the camera. We didnt have much luck that day and the Elk just didnt want to talk to us. It was quite the long hard hike... they were definatly sleepy!:)

Daddy and Joshers taking a much needed break from the long hike! Hiking up Mtns is much harder than people think! Water is a necessity up there, that and strong legs!:) haha!

Sitting on a ridge. This pic doesnt do justice. The ridge was mostly rock and very steep... its right inbetween 2 other ridges. After sitting there a while and looking down I got pretty dizzy!

Again sitting on a ridge... same place as the above pic. This pics goes to show you how easy it is to get mixed up in directions. We thought we were following the right ridge down, but turns out we were not over far enough. For those of you who know Brian really well, you know that he is a Mtn Goat!! He is very physically fit and he always knows where he is at... sometimes it takes a couple extra miles to get to the destination but he always manages to get there. ME on the other hand... I get lost and mixed up and turned around SO SO SO easily!! Mtns are very decieving! NEVER let me lead or guide someone up in the mtns... we are guaranteed to be lost and will probably end up staying a couple nights due to being lost!

Brian set his bow down in an old hollowed out, burnt log. This is our first hike and first lunch up on the mtn! :) yeay!!!

Brian... of course he is flipping off the camera! :) silly boy!! he hates his pic taken!:) anyways.. this is another pic of our lunch break :)

When we pulled up into our camping spot we noticed a blue tarp hung up around some trees... futher investigation of this found an outhouse!! definatly not a nice plastic one but i thought it was rather cute, and convenient!:) this little dandy saved us from having to empty our camper sewage.... seeing as how we never used the camper toilet! :)

This is our campsite!:) It was AWESOME! :) my favoritest one yet!:)

Another pic of the outhouse :) i just thought this was super cute!:) haha... yeah wierd i know!:)

a better pic of the campsite. you might notice that the camp fire pit is missing... well we ended up digging one right infront of the wood pile. The table you see was there when we got there... it was turned upside down and missing a leg. We found some wire and wired it to the trees. VERY handy to have one of these!:)

THIS is Brian's ELK!:) So about a week into the trip I went to go home and do some laundry and pick up my cousin. Brian headed out early that morning to do some hunting alone. About 2 hours after I left I got a phone call from him. He had gotten his Elk... alone! The one hunt I wasnt with him on and he got his elk! I offered many times to turn around and come help him drag his elk down off the mtn but he decided to go down the road to our friends camp and have them go help him. When he got to their camp he saw that they hadnt returned from their hunt yet. Come to find out later, they had also shot an elk and was looking all over for it. Poor poor Brian ended up having to drag his elk out alone. BUT as you can tell it was definatly worth it! This is a HUGE bull! It measured 334 unnofficial and officially 302 Pope and Young. (according to an internet score) We havent had it "officially" scored yet.

He brought the bull home the next day and took it straight to our wonderful taxidermist. This is at Dans house :)

Side view.
All in all we had TONZ of fun! Hunting Season for us is not yet over. We are still working hard to find Brian's deer, and my elk and deer. :) We will keep you posted!:)
